Not every renovation requires the addition of more floor space to completely transform a house that is no longer working for its owners. This house had been extended several times previously and was at the limit of its site coverage but was poorly planned with cramped and disconnected living spaces.
Additional space was created in the existing roof and underutilised rooms at the front were given new uses. A new ensuite was inserted into the side setback and the staircase was relocated to free up additional floor area for an enlarged kitchen/family room at the rear. These changes together with the inclusion of raised decking and bifold doors created a completely different house with only a few additional square metres of site coverage added.
